Vigan Cityhood - Vigan as a Municipality then and Vigan as a City now

The charm of Vigan as a municipality shows in its unique blend of history and daily life. Walking through its cobblestone brick streets, you can't help but imagine the bustling chaos and culture. What I find most captivating is how the ancestral houses, with their mix of Spanish and Filipino architectural styles, have defined that time froze once they were built. They aren't just houses, they hold golden memories, as it gives us glimpses into a world where tradition is expressed beautifully.

The transition to cityhood, was more than a mere upgrade, it was a transformation that is bloomed to a new life into the city. It acted as a catalyst, making Vigan towards modernization while still preserving its heritage. The investments that is applied led to infrastructural improvements, industries, tourism, and public services. This period of change was crucial in ensuring a better quality of life for residents and citizens. The most impressive is how Vigan managed to embrace progress without losing its historical essence.

Vigan today is a magnificent example of how a city can honor its past while looking towards the future. As a Heritage Site, Vigan's well-preserved Spanish-era structures and cultural festivals is like a living museum. Tourists from all over the world ought to experience this unique blend of history and also modern. The local government's commitment to heritage conservation, coupled with sustainable development, stands out as a model for other cities. Vigan is not just a historical city, it's a symbol of cultural pride and resilience, showing that we can cherish our roots.

Another book to unfold

Reflecting what i have done in 2024, there were a lot of success, failures and struggle. It was hard as i went through them, but of course there are still events that made me feel relieved and breathe more freely. I remember what my mom said, "okay lang eta anak, bawi kanto next time'n." The words "bawi kanto next time," still lingers in my mind fresh as i needed those words when i went through something on acads. But going something through is normal, its fine, just think accordingly and you'll get through it. In what i remember, my 2024 was full of tired nights and struggle everyday, maybe i was mentally and physically drained?

But as it flashbacked, i realized that this should not be my 2025, i should change it. I want to be the better version of my life, spend more time with myself, my friends and my family. 2025 should be more different, so i am trying to improve it. As the clock strucked at 12, i suddenly felt nostalgia from last year. Fireworks flew up at the sky, symbolizing brightness and happiness on the upcoming year. It was noisy, bright, happy and al of the chaotic things you could imagine.

New years was fun until it was done, did reality hit me? yes it did, i felt like i need to really move in order for my year to be happy and productive. But i couldn't do that without my friends or family, without them i would be nothing but full of struggles. I am very grateful that they accompanied me through all of my 2024, but i pray that they would also in my 2025 and for the future years to come. Now i think that new years is really the time to reflect your past success, failures and events that happened and to also plan ahead on the upcoming year.

My Christmas this Year

During the weeks of christmas, it was stressful deciding what gift to buy and give to your loved ones. Yet those days were challenging of course, it makes you think about what you are going to give. But then again, it's not about the gift you are giving or receiving but it's the love that matters! the care and love the person has given to you in the past few days, weeks or months is what matters. Love and care isn't measured by the things we received on this special holiday but the feeling itself is. And also, countless days of waking up early to attend “simbang gabi” which is a regular doing if christmas day is near, it's about devoting your love and cherish for the lord. (the gift i got from my cousins)

It was December 24, 2024 when we went to the last “simbang gabi”, after the mass finished we were tidying up the table and the living room for us to place the food that our family had prepared. The kids were playing, parents were talking, lolo’s and lola’s were catching up, it was a scene to behold. This only happens once in a while, it was kind of comforting. Us cousins were having the daily “chismis” catching up on what we have missed. Then someone actually prepared a recap of our 2024, it was beautiful, it felt all nostalgic and somehow warm.

As the clock strucked 12, it was now December 25, 2024. We were cheering, as we hugged each other, then we ate after all of that chaos. And after we ate, my cousin and i were the ones that were announcing names of the gifts under the Christmas tree! it felt nice having to give the gift that someone lent their love and care for and also seeing a happy face. After announcing, we opened our gifts together and laughter echoed through the living room. It was all great until it was done. All that happy laughter, chaos and the stress with buying and wrapping gifts all symbolizes love and care we filipinos lend for the lord and to our loved ones, it is indeed that we are giving kindness on the special day of our lord.
