My Journey in HTML in Quarter 2

This quarter, I gained an understanding of HTML and its fundamental role in web development. I discovered how to structure web pages using essential tags like headings, paragraphs, how to emphasize a text, and hyperlinks. Learning about these tags highlighted their importance for better web designs. Experimenting with simple projects, such as creating the exercise (exer) activities, gave me hands-on experience and boosted my understanding in using HTML tags. These discoveries made me learn much more about computers.

Despite these achievements, I encountered several challenges along the way. One of the most significant obstacles
is that i sometimes forget those tags or its other element like the angles that causes errors. Trying it again and again and still errors, proved that doing this is time-consuming and required patience. These challenges pushed me to focus on precision and problem-solving skills.

To overcome these obstacles, I made sure that all my works are accurate and correct. Regular practice and reviewing my code were essential to making sure that i used the tags correctly. Peer discussions and help also played a crucial role in improving my work. Moving forward, I aim to advance my skills by learning HTML tags, which will help me create visually appealing web pages or works in the future.

Ending Violence Against Women: A Celebration for National Women’s Month 2024!

Violence in Women is a persistent and serious issue in the Philippines, affecting many women and children. The National Women’s Month and the 18-Day Campaign to Ending Violence against Women, celebrated from November 25 to December 12, it is aimed to raise awareness and promote action against all forms of gender-based violence. Central to this campaign is Republic Act  No. 9262 or the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004, which seeks to protect women and children from abuse and ensure their rights are strengthened. Through various advocacy efforts, this campaign emphasizes the importance of education, empowerment, and protection for vulnerable people.

RA 9262 defines and addresses different forms of abuse, including physical, sexual, psychological, and economic violence against women and their children. This law provides women with legal remedies such as protection orders, legal assistance, and access to shelters. RA 9262 is significant because it empowers women to seek justice and break free from abusive environments. Moreover, the law  authority government agencies provide support services, such as livelihood programs, to help survivors rebuild and start their lives again. By understanding their rights under this law, women can better protect themselves and their children.

RA 11313, also known as the Safe Spaces Act, was enacted in 2019 to address sexual harassment and violence in public spaces, workplaces, schools, and online platforms. This law explains the doings of harassment, recognizing that it can occur in various settings and forms, including catcalling, stalking, and online harassment. RA 11313 promotes or shows a culture of respect and  responsibility by holding individuals responsible for creating a safe and protected environment rather than making it a harm. The law also emphasizes preventive measures such as education and awareness campaigns, thus having the same opportunity in both genders.

By highlighting these laws, this Campaign to Ending against Women encourages everyone to participate and create a safer, more protected society. Communities and individuals are called upon to advocate and campaign for women's rights to support survivors and promote gender equality. As one, we can work towards a future where women and children live free from violence and fear.  People deserves a harmless world to live in, no one deserves to be in an environment where they are in pain and no freedom to speak. As one, let us build a safe and secure environment not just for women but to all of us.

A Legacy of Leadership and National Service

Elpidio Quirino, the sixth President of the Philippines, is remembered for his dedication to rebuilding the nation after World War II and fostering economic growth. Born on November 16, 1890, in Vigan, Ilocos Sur, Quirino came from humble beginnings. Despite financial hardships, he excelled in his studies and earned a law degree from the University of the Philippines in 1915. His determination created the way for a career in public service, starting as a teacher and later as a lawmaker.

Quirino’s political career began in 1919 when he was elected as a member of the Philippine House of Representatives. He later served as a senator and became part of the independence mission that negotiated the Tydings-McDuffie Act, which set the stage for Philippine independence. In 1946, Quirino became vice president under President Manuel Roxas and eventually assumed the presidency after Roxas's unfortunate death in 1948. As president, Quirino prioritized national reconstruction, focusing on economic recovery, social welfare, and infrastructure development. His administration implemented programs to improve housing, education, and public health.

One of Quirino’s most greate achievements was the establishment of the Central Bank of the Philippines, which stabilized the economy and laid the foundation for financial independence. He also promoted political relations and increased the country’s ties with other nations. Despite facing political challenges and criticism, his contributions to strengthen and improve the nation remain significant. His legacy leads to resilience, leadership, and a commitment to public service.

Celebrating Indigenous Peoples Month 2024: Valuing, Nurturing, and Honoring Indigenous Knowledge

The month of October marks the observance of Indigenous Peoples Month, highlighting the rich heritage, knowledge, and rights of indigenous communities across the Philippines. This year, as we celebrate the 27th anniversary of the Indigenous Peoples Rights Act (IPRA), it underscores the importance of protecting and promoting indigenous culture, traditions, and rights. IPRA, has been instrumental in valuing the rights of indigenous groups to their ancestral domains and ensuring their active participation in national development.

This event raises awareness of the contributions of indigenous peoples and also strengthens the protection of their rights. Indigenous people do events like cultural festivals to be a voice of their struggle. This activity serves as a platform or guide for sharing indigenous knowledge systems, which are vital for environmental conservation, sustainable development, and cultural preservation.

Furthermore, this emphasizes the need for continuous government support and policy implementation to support indigenous people. Protecting ancestral locations, preserving indigenous languages, and ensuring access to education and healthcare are important aspects of empowering and building resilience in indigenous communities. This celebration encourages all Filipinos to take an active role in valuing and protecting indigenous heritage and promoting their rights for generations to come.

Filipinos Seeking Resiliency due to Severe Climate Change

The Philippines is particularly vulnerable to the effects of climate change due to its geographical position within the Pacific typhoon belt and the “Pacific Ring of Fire," resulting in a higher chance of extreme weather incidents such as typhoons, earthquakes, and volcanic activity occur. These phenomena are becoming more severe because of rising global temperatures, which arise from the increased emissions of greenhouse gases due to human activities like burning fossil fuels and deforestation. As global warming continues, Filipinos are facing more intense and strong typhoons, floods, and infrastructure especially among vulnerable people.

The regular increase in sea levels worsens the situation, it can destroy coastal communities and their survival which is fishery. The Philippines is witnessing one of the fastest rates of sea level rise globally, leading to reduced fish populations, poverty due to lack of finding source of food and money. This situation burdens local economies, as many regions rely on natural resources for their daily needs. Moreover, the destruction of the habitat of marine animals decreases the natural defenses and protectors against storms and flooding, which heightens the risks.

Despite attempts to strengthen resilience of the economy, the Philippines continues to face severe obstacles in terms of climate. Low-income communities, particularly those who takes a living on agriculture, are becoming more vulnerable to extreme weather, since it disrupts food production. Although the government is managing disaster risks for the citizens to be more safe and secure which needs comprehensive adaptation strategies. These strategies must tackle both the dangers and the long-term effects of environmental changes to ensure a sustainable future for the Filipinos.

2024 National Children's Month Celebration: “Break the Prevalence, End the Violence: Protecting Children, Creating a Safe Philippines."

The theme, “Break the Prevalence, End the Violence: Protecting Children, Creating a Safe Philippines,” reminded me of the huge responsibility we hold in ensuring the safety and well-being of every child. Violence against children, whether physical, emotional, or online, has negative effects on their growing and future. This celebration is to call awareness and to take action against such violations of rights on child. We need to create an environment where children feel valued, supported, and protected from any harm.

These activities are deeply important, especially the focus on parenting. As someone who navigates modern devices, I understand how necessary it is for parents and guardians to stay informed about the risks children face online. Focusing on education, working together in communities, and creating strong laws shows that everyone has a part to play in stopping violence. By attending events, promoting awareness, and supporting and promoting of protective measures, we contribute to shaping a safer future for children.

I believe that even small gestures can make a big impact. Volunteering in feeding programs, donating to organizations that support children’s needs, or simply spending quality time with children in our lives are meaningful ways to participate. Social media, too, is a powerful application to raise acknowledgment on this advocacy. Together, through these efforts, we can make our communities into a safe place where children play and grow, as they are free from violence and fear.

Environmental Care is a Must!

The issue of plastic waste is an important environmental concern that needs everyone's attention. Though, with everybody participating, we can innovate plastic waste into useful products. It is a small action yet impactful to our environment which reduces water pollution and other environmental issues. This not only helps in reducing plastic wastes in land or water but it also encourages people to be interested in gardening that it benefits the environment and the community.

Innovating plastic bottles into garden pots is a simple thing to do and enjoyable that is for everyone. It motivates people to collect used plastic bottles, whether they are water or soda bottles as they shape them into a pot to serve as plant case. These bottles can then be designed by painting to beautify your garden. By making use of plastic bottles, we not only minimize plastic waste but also enhances the view of the garden.

This small action has a big impact on the environment. By reusing and recycling plastic bottles instead of discarding it, we lessen environmental disasters. To add, making these garden pots can motivate others in your community to appreciate and do eco-friendly practices. These efforts can make an important difference in our environment to make a brighter future.
